Production blog

 So far, my production is going well. I feel like it looks well put together and is uniform. I added effects so that my music doesn't have a hard stop to the next song but has a smooth transfer. I also decided to use a more recent photo of me and my friend at Barnes and Noble. This photo includes just me and one other friend. The friend in my photo does go to my school, contradicting what I said in my previous blog that I only really go to Barnes and Noble with people who don't go to my school. Regardless, we still had fun and got lots of work done. I also decided not to add a photo of my record player. I decided not to do this because I am adding 2 videos of 2 different concerts. Since I am adding 2 videos of a concert, I feel like adding a photo of my record player would make my commercial a little too centered on music. I decided to add 2 concerts because I really do love both artists. Their music is different, so I wanted to showcase that. I also added a song from the artist for each concert video. For the first video of the concert, I added the "Santanny" instrumental by Bktherula. That song is also playing in the original video at the time, but obviously with the words. For the next concert, I added the " Sweet/ I Thought You Wanted To Dance" instrumental by Tyler the creator. That is also the song playing in the original video, just at a different part of the song. The videos do look good put together and better than I thought. I think my commercial is turning out really nice. I am about 75% done with my full commercial.

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My friends and I chose to defy genre traditions for our music video. During the research process, I looked at various rap songs' music videos, specifically those by the same artist (Tyler, The Creator). Because Tyler, the Creator, is such a well-known artist, my initial assumption was that I could base our music video on his general themes. Tyler has a very unique way of producing music videos with surprising outfits and outlandish setups. For example, in the music video “See You Again” Tyler has a set on a naval ship and a small boat at sea, so the idea of trying to make our video similar to Tyler’s music videos was abandoned. Reviewer #1 The first reviewer praised the foreshadowing at the start of the sequence, when the kidnapper is visible in the distance behind Jasmine. She also enjoyed the scenario with the empty swing, which led to the kidnapping. However, she admitted that she didn't really get the concept of Jasmine's revenge in the last scene. I believe this is due to our decision not to have Imani hold a knife in that scenario for safety reasons. I don't think we'll solve it, but we'll compensate with voiceover.  Reviewer #2 The second reviewer said they enjoyed the entire movie. They did not suggest any specific improvements. However, they noted that the second part of the sequence appeared to be a little off. They said it was more unprofessional than the first.
