Don't Breathe 2 (2021), Genre: Thriller Elements of the genre thriller has dark and scary lighting, jump scares, close-ups scary makeup and tense music. These different conventions fill the audience with adrenaline, make the audience feel the tension, and may trigger the fight or flight in a person. The movie Don't breathe 2 contains all of these features and we would like to add these to our movie, and hopefully make our audience feel the same. Some elements that the move contained that we enjoyed was the plot twist, suspense, jump cutting, flashbacks and more. These conventions allowed the movie to flow nicely, have a good plot overall, and show flashbacks from the previous movie to explain the new plot. Conventions that did not appeal to us the most was the too much dark lighting that didn't allow us to see everything. This could affect the audience poorly because they won't be able to see the movie to the best of its ability.

The movie "Ma" is what I will be researching today.  This movie includes intense music in the beginning, their opening scene. It also includes a bit of dark and scary lighting with a figure standing or sort of object. It also has intense music while Sue Ann is watching Maggie's mother leave. The lady, Sue Ann pulled a gun out on the boy, Andy. She had a flashback to when she was a kid. They met in an isolated location, called the Rock Piles they used this to do substances but, she also had them meet up for a meeting. There was a low shot where they searched her home. In this movie, I really enjoyed the flashbacks; it allowed the viewer to get a deeper insight of her childhood insecurities and why she is so obsessed with these children because she never had that before, which had multiple close ups. I liked the isolated locations with dark lighting, it added just enough suspense to fill that thriller moment. I liked when the cop came and did not find the children, that wo

 • What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  The movie includes notes that set a darker atmosphere such as dark clothing, climatic music, heavy breathing, etc. It also eggs on anticipation using wide, P.O.V., and aerial shots. Overall, the movie ties in the classic suspense of the thriller genre with a more action-packed premise  • What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?  I specifically enjoyed the filming/editing techniques. These techniques were specifically cutaways and crosscutting I really enjoyed how they were portrayed. Specifically, the cutaway was my favorite being used to portray/explain a traumatic past event that shaped the exposition of the film. I hope that these may be applicable to my group's pitch/film. • What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task? I, however, as mentioned in a previous blog, did not

Genre decision

Image
We did research on horror, thriller, and drama genres. We decide to do thriller because we like the suspense and Suprise it has. Our pitch " A girl gets kidnapped then escapes and gets revenge on kidnapper 10 years later." We decided this because we don't have any gore in our short film. We expect our film to turn out great and can't wait to see.

Common camera angles: High Angle, Pan, Over the Shoulder Shot, Establishing Shot, Close Up, etc. Common Mis-En-Scene: Casual Costumes, acting typically dramatized (plot twists and nuances to continue to reel in audience throughout film), set/makeup/acting that aligns with the film's themes/plot, etc. Common Editing: Eye-line match, Action match, Fade in, Fade out, Shot/Reverse Shot, etc. Common sound: Diegetic Sound, Sound Motif, Voiceover, Dialogue, etc. Example Drama Films: Titanic, The Hunger Games, The Notebook, 6 Underground, etc. Element(s) of Drama I enjoy: I like their high stake, conflict filled environments, that keep tensions high and audiences on the edge of their seats. Element(s) of Drama I do not enjoy: I, however, do not like the unnecessary dramatization that occurs in the films. I prefer a more classical approach,  I believe that drama in media shouldn't be the overdone, but the category should be implied as a background element of the film.

Our Pitch blog

Pitch A: A girl gets kidnapped then escapes and gets revenge on kidnapper 10 years later. Pitch B: A girl with a friend turns out the friend is imaginary. Discuss Pitch A:  We ae interested in making this film because we saw a short film similar that had a plot twist. We thought plot twist in this way would be cool because we can get a kid to be our younger self. We can get people to act and more people to be involved with this film idea.  We also watch movies like this all the time, so we wanted to do something like this. We also like the idea of doing a revenge idea.   Discuss Pitch B: We also liked this film idea for the same reason that it has a plot twist. This was a cool idea and we all thought it would be a nice twist. The problem is we would have to edit the person out the shot to make it work. We aren’t that confident in our editing skills so we aren’t sure how this idea will turn out. The plus is it will involve less people so we can work quicker.  Our final decision: since

Group blog

For this project, my group mates are Adrian Forbes, Nijah Sarduy, and Imani Hart. I chose these people as my group mates because they are my friends. Even though they are my friends, I also picked them because they are hard-working. We will be having fun, but we will also stay on task to get our work done. I think it's also easier to communicate because we already have each other's numbers. This will also help the video get done faster due to the multiple hands working on it. I also know these people won't stop working with us and will pick up their part. I enjoy talking and collaborating with these people in other subjects so I feel it would be the same for this project. We have worked together on the last project and that went well. I loved working with them because they got stuff done quickly. Even when we had hiccups, we always made it through. The project seems fun so, I am excited to see how this comes out. We are doing hopefully a horror, and I think it's pretty

Intro to Final Task

Hi! I am done with the last two project and it's time for the next. I really did enjoy the first one and it was fun. To introduce myself again, my name is Callie Brown. I am a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School in the Cambridge program. I love hanging out with friends and going to Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places because I work better in workspaces. I love hanging out with friends because it is a way to destress after doing lots of schoolwork. I took Aice media studies because I love movies. Watching movies is one of my favorite hobbies, and Jordan Peele is my favorite director. My favorite film distributor is A24 because my favorite movies are from them, such as Waves, Moonlight, and Mid90s. A24 produces the best movies for me because they are all so deep and have a significant meaning. Another reason I took this class is because of the high passing rate, thanks to our great teachers.  I also love listening to music because it fits every feeling
