Research and planning

 For my commercial, I will be talking about the interests that I love and why I love them. I will discuss my love for Barnes and Noble, Music, and movies. I want to split my commercial into sections of interest. I will include a Picture for each section, 2 videos of me doing my interest, and 1 song that I like for my music section. I chose to section my commercial like this because it will flow better and look cleaner.

For the section about Barnes and Noble, I want to add a picture of me and my friends studying there. I love studying with friends there because I can talk to them and do work as well. One of my favorite things in Barnes and Noble is Starbucks, so the picture will most likely include me, my friends, and our drinks. I will also include a video of me in Barnes and Noble because I also love to go to the music section and look at all the vinyl section. I love how two of my favorite interests go hand in hand.  

For the Music section, I want to add a picture of my vinyl collection and record player. I am slowly building up my collection. This section will most likely be where the song is added, and I am not sure which song to put but it is probably going to be by Tyler the creator.  I do love lots of artist as well, so deciding a song to put will probably be the hardest part of this commercial. I could also add a video of me at a concert that I've been to. 

For the section about movies, I will probably add a picture I took at a movie theater of a title sequence. I love title sequences especially when movie distributors change their logo to fit the movie theme. I have to decide which movie I will put a picture of and if it will be a picture I already have or will I go see a movie and use a new photo. I could also add a song from a movie to go with the picture that I'm adding. I am excited to show you guys me.

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My friends and I chose to defy genre traditions for our music video. During the research process, I looked at various rap songs' music videos, specifically those by the same artist (Tyler, The Creator). Because Tyler, the Creator, is such a well-known artist, my initial assumption was that I could base our music video on his general themes. Tyler has a very unique way of producing music videos with surprising outfits and outlandish setups. For example, in the music video “See You Again” Tyler has a set on a naval ship and a small boat at sea, so the idea of trying to make our video similar to Tyler’s music videos was abandoned. Reviewer #1 The first reviewer praised the foreshadowing at the start of the sequence, when the kidnapper is visible in the distance behind Jasmine. She also enjoyed the scenario with the empty swing, which led to the kidnapping. However, she admitted that she didn't really get the concept of Jasmine's revenge in the last scene. I believe this is due to our decision not to have Imani hold a knife in that scenario for safety reasons. I don't think we'll solve it, but we'll compensate with voiceover.  Reviewer #2 The second reviewer said they enjoyed the entire movie. They did not suggest any specific improvements. However, they noted that the second part of the sequence appeared to be a little off. They said it was more unprofessional than the first.
