 Hello, bloggers! As we begin the initial production of our short film, our group has carefully planned how to divide the work based on everyone's availability. Many of us have after-school jobs or participate in various activities, so scheduling has been a key part of our planning process. To make things more manageable, we decided to set our working days for Wednesdays and Sundays, ensuring that everyone has time to contribute without overwhelming their personal commitments.

One of our first major group discussions revolved around choosing the perfect title for our short film. We wanted something that was both creative and memorable while keeping it short and intriguing. We brainstormed several ideas, including Slumber in the Knight, A Night to Never Forget, and The Last Slumber. After considering all the options, we finally decided on Slumber Ends.

The title works well because it captures the essence of the slumber party while hinting at an unexpected twist or tragic event. This element of mystery will help draw viewers in before they even start watching. With the title settled, we moved on to the next step: assigning character names and selecting actors for each role.

Our current character lineup includes:

  • Laura (17) - Natalie
  • Emma (17) - Nijah
  • Tessa (16) - Janiah
  • Jasmine (17) - Kylie
  • Becca (16) - Callie

These assignments are not final, as we are still determining who best fits each character. For now, these are placeholders to help us read through the script and get a feel for the roles. As we continue working, adjustments may be made to better match each actor to their character.

This initial phase of production has been exciting, and we are looking forward to developing the story further. With a solid schedule and a strong team effort, we are confident that Slumber Ends will come together successfully.

 Hi! For our music video, we needed to create a plan which is why we created a story board. In scene 1, we will be recorded from the backseat… so you’ll be able to see the back of the driver and passengers head, singing the song two seater by Tyler the creator at 3:47. At that time the song goes “can you roll my window up”. In scene 2, at 3:53 they’re still arguing about the window being down and she says “because it’s windy” etc. still recorded from the same angle. In scene 3, then at 3:59 of the song he says “but I love when your hair blows” and the video will be shot from her passenger seat window. She’s smiling as they ride down the road. In scene 4, 4:05 it shows the same thing… her smiling and staring out of the window but it will be from a different angle. In scene 5, the group (Nijah, Callie, Imani) will be playing at the park while Adrian (Camera Man) records us. There will be no dialogue here only the song playing in the background.  Hi! I am done with the first project and it's time for the next. I really did enjoy the first one and it was fun. To introduce myself again, my name is Callie Brown. I am a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School in the Cambridge program. I love hanging out with friends and going to Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places because I work better in workspaces. I love hanging out with friends because it is a way to destress after doing lots of schoolwork. I took Aice media studies because I love movies. Watching movies is one of my favorite hobbies, and Jordan Peele is my favorite director. My favorite film distributor is A24 because my favorite movies are from them, such as Waves, Moonlight, and Mid90s. A24 produces the best movies for me because they are all so deep and have a significant meaning.   1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My friends and I chose to defy genre traditions for our music video. During the research process, I looked at various rap songs' music videos, specifically those by the same artist (Tyler, The Creator). Because Tyler, the Creator, is such a well-known artist, my initial assumption was that I could base our music video on his general themes. Tyler has a very unique way of producing music videos with surprising outfits and outlandish setups. For example, in the music video “See You Again” Tyler has a set on a naval ship and a small boat at sea, so the idea of trying to make our video similar to Tyler’s music videos was abandoned. That would ultimately be unattainable for my group. We didn't have any money to spend on costumes, sets, or activities. This is why we decided to focus on the fundamentals of our relationships.
